Genetic Diversity and Structure of Quercus hondae, a Rare Evergreen Oak Species in Southwestern Japan

چکیده
Conservation of rare species is essential for maintaining ecosystem function. Quercus hondae a evergreen oak (Cyclobalanopsis) endemic to Japan. This found in several locations Southwestern Japan; small populations remain the tutelary forests Japanese shrine. To evaluate genetic diversity and phylogeographic structure this species, 11 microsatellite loci chloroplast DNA sequences are analyzed 12 Q. 8 more widespread congeneric glauca. It that heterozygosity at both population level substantially lower than Genetic differentiation among was high, contrast glauca, which exhibit largely insignificant differentiation. STRUCTURE analysis shows K = 7, clusters corresponded major predefined populations. study suggests there little gene flow extant genetically differentiated due greater effect drift pattern sharp common will be an important consideration conservation hondae.

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...
Genetic diversity and population structure of Raffaelea quercus-mongolicae, a fungus associated with oak mortality in South Korea.
Raffaelea quercus-mongolicae is a fungus associated with oak wilt and deemed to cause extensive oak mortality in South Korea. Since the discovery of this fungus on a dead Mongolian oak (Quercus mongolica) in 2004, the mortality continued to spread southwards in South Korea. Despite continued expansion of the disease and associated significant impacts on forest ecosystems, information is lacking...
متن کاملInternal remobilization of carbohydrates, lipids, nitrogen and phosphorus in the Mediterranean evergreen oak Quercus ilex.
Remobilization of internal resources is an important mechanism enabling plants to be partly independent of external nutrient availability. We assessed resource remobilization during the growing period in woody and foliar tissues of leafy branches of mature evergreen Mediterranean oak (Quercus ilex L.) at three field sites. We compared nonstructural carbohydrates, lipids, nitrogen and phosphorus...
متن کاملConservation of genetic diversity in artificially regenerated holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) populations
Reforestation with autochthonous species should take into account the preservation of the variability and the geographical structure of genetic diversity in forest species. In order to provide empirical data, genetic composition of an artificial population of holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) and its natural seed-origin population in Andalusia were analysed with six microsatellite loci. The genetic di...
متن کامل1 Global and Neotropical Distribution and Diversity of Oak (genus Quercus) and Oak Forests
The genus Quercus is one of the most important clades of woody angiosperms in the northern hemisphere in terms of species diversity, ecological dominance, and economic value. Oaks are dominant members of a wide variety of habitats, including temperate deciduous forest, temperate and subtropical evergreen forest, subtropical and tropical savannah, subtropical woodland, oak-pine forest, oak-’piño...
